The Design Process
The design challenge was to create a full deck of cards, box and jokers included, the represented an art style such as Art Deco, Bauhaus or Modernism. I choose to do Victorian as focus on the ornamental flourishes of type during that time along with flowers and filigrees. Below is the design process from mood-board to finish design.
Initial design mood-board and mind-maps helped guide the project in determining the feel, color scheme and imagery used in creating a cohesive victorian style design.
Sketching focused on creating a cohesive floral and filigree pattern that flowed with all the cards. Sketching out the positioning of the number cards and style of the suites was important to give them a unique feel.
